Recap of 2014 and upcoming 2015

Year 2014 was really exiting! We were in 46 races in motorsport and 6 events in equestrian sport so lot did happen during year 2014. Total over 40 weekends Team SunRacing was present in different events all over baltic and northern Europe.

For year 2015 we have up to 60 races and events scheduled. You can see us racing in ice road racing with quad and sidecar, motocross with solo and sidecar and supermoto with quad. Also we are racing in multiple equestrian international FEI level events and in few national events. Thus you can rest assured that Team SunRacing is yet again well visible during 2015 in many races and events all around baltic and northern Europe!

Kurtuvenai, Lithuania 20th September FEI event

Team SunRacing was at Kurtuvenai 20th September participating in FEI international 80km event.

We started traveling early morning day before the event and without any major problems (small technical problem with the car which however we was able to fix quickly without third party help) we was at racing area some time after noon. Thus we had lot of time to get ready for the event next day. This was nice change as we have usually arrived later and then many things has had to be done in somewhat hurry. Now we were able to drive through all the grooming points at the track and do relaxing ride with the horse.

Race day started well and we had good feeling. During the first and second leg we had problems getting the horse to drink which meant somewhat bad veterinary results from the second leg inspection. At that point we were little bit worried but soon after that our horse started drinking and from that we knew that she will be drinking well hereafter. Last leg went well and veterinary results after the finish inspection was much better than at the second inspection! That gave us new personal best in overall speed this season and 4th place in the competition! In top of that the horse's recovery times was really good overall which gives really positive feeling for the future. Well done!

Overall the event was really well organized and we were really happy that we were able to participate and we surely will be at Kurtuvenai in the future!

Aravete 13.9 and Dobele 14.9

Team SunRacing was at Aravete Estonia 13.9 racing with solo and sidecar class. It was the last race in Top200 cup for solo and extra race for sidecar class.

In solo class 9th place was the day result so everything went quite well even the track was somewhat hard for solo bikes and required lot of experience for good result. Seasons Top200 cup total placement was 130th from 283 competitors so pretty good for for this first season in solo class.

In sidecar class 1st place! In the first corner of the first heat passenger was hit by big rock to the thumb and the thumb was fractured. However passenger was able to continue the race with normal speed so we were in the lead after the first heat. The second heat did go with slower speed but still finishing with good position ensured win for the day!

Next day 14.9 Team SunRacing travelled to Dobele Latvia for last sidecar race of the year even the passenger had fractured thumb.  It was the last race in Latvian championships.

We had to slow our speed somewhat but with other teams' having bad luck we were able to finish 3rd in overall results. In the season we were able to participate only in few Latvian championship races but still in the seasons overall result we were at the 5th place total! Not so bad after all!

Kõrvemaa 6.9 and Põlva 7.9

In the weekend Team SunRacing was at Kõrvemaa equestrian endurance event and at Põlva motocross Korvikunnid Cup.


Kõrvemaa

Race had really high level horses and riders. Most of them was testing their horses before Lithuania international FEI event at late of september. So was we. Race went really well and horse felt quite good. Now we can prepare for the Lithuania event.


Põlva

The last leg of the Korvikunnid Cup was held in Põlva. We were down four points from the first place and holding the second place strongly. Thus winning both heats we would have been able to win the cup. Sadly during the training we had problems with 3rd gear which was dropping to 2nd gear all the time. Also steering damper was getting stuck which didn't make our driving any easier. After qualifying we was second just 0.3 seconds behind the first. First heat start was not so good and we had to pass many competitors and lost some valuable time. We was not able to catch the first team and finished 2nd. Sadly that meant that without bad luck to another team we could not anymore win the cup. Second heat we had better start and was 2nd from the start. We followed the first team closely but was not able to push for the pass. Also second heat we finished 2nd and that was it for the Korvikunnid Cup. Nevertheless good overall season for Korvikunnid Cup and total 2nd place is not easy one to get. We are quite happy of our first season success and hope to get the first place at the next season 2015!

Racing and spectating

After St. Petersburg FEI international race there has been multiple events and we have been super busy.

Racing at Raasiku, Estonia

This was first race for our newest horse. Everything went fine and we were really happily surprised how the horse performed in his first race. The event was well organized and crewing was easy to do as the track crossed roads in multiple locations that were however in close proximity of each other.


Spectating at Kiviõli, Estonia

At Kiviõli there was sidecar world championships and quad european championships. Team SunRacing was only spectating and cheering for the great athletes in these events.


Spectating and racing at Kegums, Latvia

At Kegums there was again sidecar world championships and quad european championships. Also there was mini world championship for veterans. Team SunRacing was competing in the veteran class. We had lot of bad luck during the race. First heat went without bigger problems but bad start made our effort harder. However second place from the first heat. Second heat our start was even worse and we was last after the second corner's blockage. After that we rushed to the top but fell over in one sandy right corner. It took some time to gather our selfs and get back racing. We finished fifth. Overall third place was surprising but it was due to other team's mixed results. So it was not that perfect day but as others had also some bad luck the overall result was satisfactory.


Racing at Rõuge, Estonia

Second race for our newest horse. Just before the start horse was agitated and during that time the horse lost one of his shoes. First phase the horse raced without this shoe but was able to complete the phase without any problems. Before the second phase farrier was summoned to put the lost shoe back but of course it took some time and the horse wasn't ready after the compulsory time. Thus the clock started ticking before the shoeing was ready. However the horse was able to continue and was able to complete the second phase before time limit. Besides the problem with the shoe everything went really well and we are getting the feeling that this horse might have real potential.

Race at Rõuge was really well organized and the track was excellent in every way. It is really nice to see how the experience in organizing events really sums up in all the events in Haanja-Rõuge area.


Racing at Kose, Estonia

At Kose there was second to last event in the Korvikunnid Cup. Both heats we ended second so not much to complain. However first heat was really hard because bad start and we had to get past over dozen of other competitors. Sadly one of our main competitor was injured during the race in unfortunate crash. We wish speedy recovery to him!

Before last event at Põlva we are second in total with 292 points and the first team has 296 points. So everything is still open!

From Russia with love - kind of

Last weekend we were racing in St. Petersburg at FEI international CEI class. Organizer was Russian equestrian club "Istok".

Traveling went quite smoothly and crossing the border did not have any major issues. Few problems with forms and other travelers having issues ahead of us took some time and total crossing time was 5 hours in and 5 hours out. If everything would go well and all forms would be perfectly filled it could only take about 2 hours in and 2 hours out. Traveling in Russia was good as the main roads were in very good condition and fuel was really cheap. Cheap and fast driving.

The racing area wasn't that great. Organizer lacked experience and didn't have much ready for the race. Lot of problems with the competition area, boxes, route markings, route safety, water supply and schedule. We managed to get our horse to box in few hours and did get our gear to place. After that we went to get few hours of rest in our hotel. Early at morning we starter racing but partly due to dangerous track and unfortunate events the horse fell during the course during second phase and shocked horse wasn't able to continue.

Sadly no result but still lot of experience! Traveling long distance (34 hours total travel time), complicated border crossings and racing in extreme heat (over 32C) is very demanding for the horse and for the crew. The flaws in the event organizing was however the most demanding part. Without these problems by the organizer and the horse falling the trip would have been perfect.

Klaipeda, Baltic Cup and this week

Race at Klaipeda was the last race of Baltic Cup for sidecars. Places 4th and 2nd gave 2nd overall for the day and for the Baltic Cup! We are quite happy for our total 2nd place but of course 2nd isn't the first.

There is still 2 races in Korvikunnid Cup and we are only few points behind the first place but also third is only few points behind us. We do consider Korvikunnid Cup to be our main cup so we are really working to get that first place overall.

This saturday we are racing at Tihemetsa with quad and solos and this sunday at Jõgeva with quad and sidecar. For sidecar the race is only practice race but it just might give us the edge for the future races.

Today it is time to train with solo and quad to get ready for the weekend.

Pühajoe and Klaipeda

Weekend's race at Pühajoe went well. We were able to get 4th and 5th place in our class. We were only mere seconds from 3rd and 4th place.

Next friday morning we are going to head to Klaipeda Lithuania. Long trip (over 600km) so we need to travel early. We have high hopes for the race.

Bad luck at Vilaka but moving forward

We had technical problems at Vilaka that resulted two heats with no results. However both days gave one heat with decent result and lot of good training.

But we are moving forward. Today we are going to Pärnu Kolmapäevakross race, next saturday to Pühajoe TOP200 race and sunday to training for the next week's saturday race at Klaipeda Lithuania. So this week is still full of action!

UPDATE - 3. JULY

In addition to all this trouble our utility van didn't start anymore with broken start engine. Now it is towed to repair shop and we are hoping to get it back soon. Sadly we missed Pärnu Kolmapäevakross because of this.

28.06.2014 - 29.06.2014 Vilaka Latvia MX

Team SunRacing is traveling to Latvia to participate two-day motocross event at Vilaka during 28.06.2014 - 29.06.2014. Saturday includes Quad race and sunday has some Sidecar action for the team.

We have high hopes for both days but lets keep our fingers crossed. Today we had great training at Kose MX track with quad and sidecar but we are going to include one more MX training day before the weekend. Otherwise the end of the week will be getting prepared for the travel and for the event.

St John's Day rest and recuperation

Team SunRacing has had great season so far. Over 30 competitions participated this far including various motocross, enduro, cross-country, iceroadracing and equestrian endurance events.

In sidecar class (51+) Team SunRacing team is one point from first place and we are aiming to take the first place and keep it. In solo classes' (MDE, MXD) Team SunRacing is getting better results: 34th place has now turned to 17th place. Over all during the season, results and speed has greatly improved and we are aiming to qualify to higher class after the end of the season. In quad class (amateur) we had some technical problems that has now been resolved. We hope that in next events in quad class we can aim to top 15 and end of the season we hope to be in top 10. In equestrian endurance our horse qualified to international level and during the season we are aiming to gain more international ranking. Also we are going to introduce more horses to events to get their qualifications to longer distances.

To be able to compete rest of the season with full energy some rest and recuperation is needed. So this weekend including St John's Day holidays we are going to just relax without competitions or training. However after the holidays we are going straight to training and next week and weekend includes competitions as usually.

31.05.2014 Pärnu kuningas and 01.06.2014 Korvikunnid (Baltic cup) Tihemetsa

Team SunRacing participated Pärnu Kuningas event at saturday with two solo bikes and Tihemetsa Korvikunnid cup at sunday with sidecar. In Pärnu team SunRacing was in top 5 and in Tihemetsa team SunRacing got 2nd place in their respective classes.

The Korvikunnid leg in Tihmetesa was also the first leg of Baltic Cup.

Great weekend for team SunRacing!

Haanjamaa 24.5.2014 FEI international equestrian endurance competition

Team SunRacing finished successfully Haanjamaa CEI1* (80km) competition with over 14 km/h speed which qualifies to Finnish championships!

Excellent result from this international event even there was very demanding track (lot of elevation) and extreme weather conditions (over 32C with high humidity).

More motorsport - every wednesday!

Team SunRacing will be participating Pärnu Estonia "kolmapäevakrossi" which takes place every wednesday from 2014-05-07 to 2014-10-15. We try to participate as many of these series of motocross as we can but sadly not all of them are possible.
