Summer 2018

The summer was quite hot and dry as usual so there was not so many competitions. We and also the organisers plan most of the competitions around the hottest summer time.

Master Cruiser did his first international race at 17/6 in Soumensac with Marja. Master Cruiser was moved from Finland to France at the beginning of the year and we did few test races before we went up to try the international level. Even in hot weather Master Cruiser showed no signs of problems and the CEI 80 km was finished quite nicely.

Also Ainhoa Patchouli debuted with Marja during the summer. First race for the horse but finished with ease the CEN 20 km at 14/7 in La Croix Blanche. Accompanied with Don Pablo and Lauri. It was nice to go together but always it is somewhat stressful to have two horses WITHOUT any crew to help.

At 24/8 we had two day competition CEI 2* 2x70 km in Monpazier with Master Cruiser. The first day went really well and there was no problems. Horse felt just great all-around. At the next morning the horse was somewhat stiff but stiffness went away after walking and there was no problems in the vet control. However after the first loop of the second day the Master Cruiser sadly went slightly lame that was also visible in the vet check. There was no problems with the hoofs or lower limbs thus we concluded that there was some minor strain that caused the lameness. Next morning there was no lameness or any problem whatsoever. So luckily it was just bad luck with minor injury that stopped the race that day.

Meanwhile Laura continued training and racing with Step Night as planned. Step Night completed CEN 48 km with Laura at 26/08 in Kouvola without problems.

Even the summer was quite hot and dry we still continued to train hard for the upcoming events. Most of all to the main event of our season: World Championship for Young Horses in Samorin, Slovakia.
