09 - 11 / 2018
Fall was quite typical but dry this year. It was easy to train and nice weather to compete but hay was not growing that good. Luckily for the hay it started to rain closer to winter. And as usually, it rained a lot.
Jiicee Superstar was getting ready for the world championships for young horses and we went to have training competition in Castelsagrat at 02/09. Marja and Jiicee completed the 40 km without problems and it was quite nice training for the upcoming world championships.
Don Pablo (5yo) was getting ready for national championships for young horses. He needed one 40 km SHF competition to qualify to the championships. Marja and Don Pablo finished 40 km in Routiers at 15/09 without problems.
At 29/09 the world championships for young horses took place in Samorin. We were there with Jiicee Superstar. Jiicee and Marja finished the race without major problems. The main goal was to finish and hopefully with better speed than before. As usually Jiicee was able to exceed our expectations and did well. Traveling went really well and in the competition Jiicee broke the 16 km/h barrier without problems. Main thing was that Jiicee was really good even after the last vet gate and after all the traveling and the competition she was like nothing at home. You can read more precise about the Samorin at https://www.teamsunracing.com/p/samorin-wcf.html in our blog.
Quite soon after the Samorin Don Pablo did go to national championships for young horses that took place in Uzes at 14/10. This 60 km competition has very strict veterinary inspections and at the end the horse is classified per the results of the inspections and the average speed. Speed needs to be between 14.8 km/h and 15.5 km/h thus there is only about 10 minute window to cross the finish line. The heart rate needs to be 54 or under in 5 minutes to get two points or in 10 minutes to get one point. Also all the metabolic indicators needs to be perfect. Marja and Don Pablo completed the competition nicely. Don Pablo gained two points out of four but for trotter it was still quite well done and he classified as "Very Good".
Last competition for the year was first FEI competition for Laura. In Pamiers at 17/11 Laura and Master Cruise completed CEI 1* 82 km without problems. Well done!
During the winter the horses will have some rest but as usually at the beginning of the year we start to train for the next season.
